please do not blame voilent video games and hollywood for some kids lack of understanding as to what is real and what is not. Columbine, virginia tech, red lake high, these events have been blamed on video game violence, horror movies, and Tv. yet in reality while these things do play a small role in behavior, the major factor is parenting or lack there of.

i grew up playing games like Doom, and quake, i listen to rock, and heavy metal. i learned to shoot guns and even how to blow tree stumps out of the ground, yet i never went out and well shot people or commited murder, because i was taught morals when i was young. and beleive me i didn’t have it easy by any means growing up. i have been so broke i have had to steal to eat.

smart, very smart. i often run into religous zealots who don’t know the first thing about the bible and religion. ok let me explain it in a kinda odd way, organized religion is nothing more than self governance, a set of moral codes that is socially and morally acceptable. i can worship god in my way. its more being spiritaul while instilling and living by morale code.

Thank you for your comment. You have brought up a book that you said was endorsed by the papal powers of the time. If you notice on this site, I do not hold the papacy in very high regard. I believe that the Catholic church has been a very strong culprit of distorting the truth about Christianity. I have not heard of the book you have referenced, so I cannot comment specifically in regards to that.

I do believe, however, that what we are exposed to, especially as children, effects us greatly. The Bible says that bad manners corrupts good habits, light has no place with darkness and if we instruct a child in the way they should go that when they grow up they will not depart from it.

There are children who play extremely violent video games and watch horror movies, then go out and attempt to mimic them in real life because they do not understand the consequences of their actions. Magic / Witchcraft, etc. are very real and very dangerous and the Bible is very clear as to how the one true God feels about the matter as I have stated in my post.

I am not sure what you are calling the “real issues” to fight, other than you bringing up the pledge of allegiance. So, I cannot comment on that. I am sorry that you feel the way that you do, but I will continue to hold the Lord God dear and serve Him to the best of my ability and I pray that you will seek the truth and find it in Jesus.

oh and btw you want to see how Christianity really views witchcraft read the malaus malifacarum, it was published as a guide to detect and determine who is a witch, and was endorsed by the papal powers of the time, this is mainly attributed to it being one of the first books ever printed in a printing press. and is responsible for the death of over a million men, women, and children. so tell me this is the god you hold so dear? your concerned about a stupid book when (edit word), schools are considering the pledge of allegiance to u.s. to be in violation of the state and church.

By using ‘characters’ whether you call them mythical or magical, etc. to entertain someone as to make the truth of the gospel accepted is attempting to add to and take away from the true Word of God, which is prohibited by the Word of God.

You neglect to note also that these pagan elements were only safe when Aslan (the Christ-figure) was present. Note the statement Susan makes to Lucy in the book Prince Caspian about not feeling safe with these pagan gods if Aslan were not present.

Lewis never (as a Christian) endorsed paganism as a path to follow, but rather there are some things in pagan religions which are dim reflections of the True myth – Jesus Christ.

It’s like Christians feel threatened by Wicca and Paganism. Why should it be threatening? They are different belief systems, so what? If you have ANY Christian faith it’s obviously not going to be destroyed by a movie or book. They are for fun, and the creators use magic and strange creatures to make it interesting, NOT to convert your children.
